Fortnite is one of the biggest franchises in gaming. It has already become a juggernaut, but could a movie of the franchise be next? A Fortnite video game movie might not be in the works at the moment, but a notable director has expressed interest in helming the project this week. In a recent interview with Etalk, Zack Synder expressed interest in directing a Fortnite movie.

Zack Synder Wants to Direct a Fortnite Movie
A Fortnite movie has been the subject of speculation for quite a while, but one director has just thrown their hat into the ring to helm it. In a recent interview with Etalk, the director spoke about becoming hooked to Fortnite by playing it using the Mr Meeseeks Rick and Morty Fortnite skin. Past just playing, though, he’d be happy to get involved with a potential movie.
“Fortnite is an amazing world, and it is an amazing distraction for me. But it’s really cool, and the alchemy that they’ve created there is really unique. When I started playing it, I thought I knew what it was, and then it was something entirely different.”
Talking further in the interview about being involved with a potential Fortnite movie, he said “You definitely can never say never”.
It’s not exactly the most committal interview, but clearly, the director has an interest in it. He’s currently promoting his latest film, Moon Rebel. Snyder wants the characters of the movie to appear in Fortnite. In the past, he’s been no stranger to tackling accomplished properties. He’s previously shot a messy remake of the Romero classic, Dawn of the Dead. Since then, he’s gone on to helm a number of DC Comics movies that had mixed reviews, and more recently stronger films like Army of the Dead.
The director wouldn’t be the most natural pick for a Fortnite adaptation. The family-friendly franchise wouldn’t be his normal kind of film. However, a Synder-helmed Fortnite movie would definitely be unique.
What Would a FN Movie be Like?
That’s what Zack Synder had to say about a potential Fortnite film. What could we expect from an actual adaptation, though? The franchise is known for bringing in crossovers, but its core world and characters might still be enough to hold up a narrative of their own.
How deep a potential movie would go into the baffling Fortnite lore is difficult to predict. A movie adaptation would be an interesting place to take the franchise, though.
