As with each new yearly instalment of Call of Duty, we as players get to experience new maps. Since Vanguard’s release, we have been treated to some interesting maps. For this reason, we have decided to compile a list of the top 10 in Call of Duty Vanguard maps. Understandably everybody will rank maps differently, so we have chosen maps that offers more players different varieties of play.
1. Gavuutu

This map features heavily in the CDL and happens to be a favourite amongst professional players. It can suit different styles of play, as you can take part in intense gunfights with an SMG around main centre ship and its surrounding buildings. If victorious this will allow others to gain a strong vantage point up high. Alternatively, there is beach side where AR’s and Snipers can take over in longer-range duels. It can vary in pace, which allows for game modes such as SnD, Control and Hardpoint to be viable.
2. Dome

Dome happens to be a map that has mixed reviews, but we find it encourages a fast-paced game. Generally, SMG’s can dominate, but the second-floor vantage points are great for AR’s. Camping in corners can happen but can often lead to losing map control and then the match. Additionally, this map has a great environmental impact. If you look out beyond the balcony, you will find a city on flames with high effect. Also, on the inside you will find small memorabilia which brings character based on the location of Dome.
3. Berlin

Berlin provides a larger map setting to play in, with many ways to play. If mid-control is taken, Snipers can find themselves in heaven as they have long sightlines to aim down. It is also a map where players can flank through alleys, which gives the possibility of comebacks in any game. This map can lead to fun but slow paced SnD games and very tactical respawn objective game types. Broken down tanks, building fires, destructible walls and more features make this a map to be enjoyed.
4. Hotel Royal

This map is a great addition to the game, as it can support many different styles of play, except for snipers being a difficult weapon to manoeuvre with. Even if the team is losing, with the right positioning you will be able to clean up with the right angles. There are no set power positions which enable more players to get involved. Ideally, this map is perfect for respawn game modes. Inside of the building, you will find well-detailed bars, cabinets, artwork, and corridors. Outside you will find a beautiful night sky, with a perfect backdrop including the Eiffel tower.
5. Das Haus

Given Shipment’s success, the development team wanted to introduce another close quarters map. Das Haus had been released, and yes it can divide opinions, but it is fun to play with a team. It is certainly a map for Shotguns and SMGs as each corner must be checked. The entertainment comes from levelling up weapons quickly, plus if you are with a team, you can control the map quickly with co-ordination and then dominate. The environmental impact is average, but it is the gameplay and kill satisfaction that elevates it.

6. Shipment

Okay, so Shipment has had many different appearances in Call of Duty and had started to get drained of its life source. In this iteration, it has been revived much to the relief of fans. After getting accustomed to players jumping on crates and spawn possibilities, it is fun using ARs to attain multi-kills. Additionally, we understand that shotguns can make anybody rage, but they are probably the most effective weapon on the map.
7. Tuscan

One map that does not receive the love it deserves is Tuscan. Firstly, the map design is fantastic. For a small village in that area and climate, the imagery is spot on. Due to its multiple keys holding points, this map has also been a favourite for CDL fans and players. Whether it’s a close-range fight in church and fountain, or a longer ranged duel in home-spawn or near mid-cut, there is something for everyone.
8. Bocage

This map may not be the most visually stunning, but it can provide for some interesting matches. Through its multitude of farmyard buildings, you can find many close-range fights inside. Alternatively, outside near stables or both tanks, you can find favourable AR positions. We find when a map can enable multiple ways to play, it will become more popular, such as what Bacage does.
9. Decoy

A forgotten map but certainly an entertaining one is Decoy. This map can provide intense firefights, as each spawn point can provide walls to shoot through, which leads to teams struggling to keep control of mid-map. It is rare any one team fully controls mid-map for a full game. This can then lead to more competitive games which is great for either side. Decoy is certainly tailormade for respawn game modes. Environmentally the game holds up well. The distinct colour of buildings and the ground add definition which only compliment the map further.
10. Castle

Castle happens to be one of the biggest Call of Duty Vanguard maps. It has multiple levels to fight on, colourful gardens, well detailed buildings, and well-designed lanes. This creates the perfect environment for large team respawn modes. In this map every weapon is viable, as there can be long, medium, and short-range gunfights at any given time.
Those are our top 5 Call of Duty Vanguard maps, and we can’t wait to see what new ones can come!
