DNF Duel is an Arc System Works game which is a highlight of anime fighters. It’s a title which utilizes some unique mechanics for its crossover gameplay. This can get a bit more technical at times, but if you can spend the time to drill down and really master the mechanics, you’ll find a very rewarding title. The game is still receiving updates too, with new fighters coming throughout 2025 and 24. If you want a different type of Arc fighter, DNF Duel is a great pick.
8. GranBlue Fantasy Versus Rising

GranBlue Fantasy Versus Rising is one of the biggest fighting game releases of the last six months. The follow-up to the fighting spin-off first dropped in late 2025, making it a title completely native to the PS5. It looks it too. While it’s still in the signature anime fighting game style, the effects and other bits of quality have been taken up a notch.
What’s great about Versus Rising is how much more accessible it has made the franchise. The game series now has a free-to-play version and other features to make it simpler for players to get into.
7. Mortal Kombat 11 Ultimate

Mortal Kombat 11 Ultimate is the PS5 version of the title that was so popular in the least gen. As an Ultimate edition, it has all of the content included across the original game, which features one of the most sprawling spreads of Mortal Kombat characters we’ve ever seen included. The gameplay is a little looser than some past games in the series, but MK still has the gory fatalities and tense combos in the game too. While there is a sequel out native to the PS5, an Ultimate edition has its perks if you want a more complete experience. It’s a nice game to revisit in its upgraded and full form.
6. Brawlhalla

Brawlhalla might not be the most native title to the PS5, but it’s one of the best experiences for a fighter here. This title has been around for a long time but it continues to be available on every platform. With a huge epsorts scene and near-constant updates, there are loads of reasons to get involved in Brawlhalla. Far from it being too late to really join in, Brawlhalla is only getting bigger.
As a platform fighter, this is also quite unique in gameplay compared to others here. The title has fun mechanics for fighting which really lends itself to the huge roster of characters. Brawlhalla is one of the best PS5 fighting games.
5. Guilty Gear Strive
Guilty Gear Strive is one of the best anime fighting games and one of the top choices on the PS5. The title on this console doesn’t get much in the way of an upgrade, but the improved load times and stability will definitely help performance out.
Guilty Gear is a fighting game which has a diverse cast of characters, each with its mechanics, unique movement, and overpowered moves. It’s a game that’s achieved a decent balance that’s also made it one of the PS5 fighting games with the biggest epsorts communities. It’s still pretty actively played by a large base of fans. You won’t be struggling to find a game. For a title that’s had a long life like this too, there are a lot of combos and strategies out there that you can really spend time mastering.

King of Fighters XV is the latest in the franchise and it’s a solid return to more classic mechanics for the SNK series. It has a sizeable roster to suit the three-on-three here fights and enough modes to provide something to do outside of online. If you are jumping in online though, this is a fighter that has rollback netcode. That’s going to make it incredibly smooth to play online and it’s an example of how far fighting games have come on PS5.
3. FighterZ

Dragon Ball FighterZ is a bit of a different choice for the best PS5 fighting games. Like some others here, it didn’t originate on this generation of console. An update is coming though which will roll out a PS5 fighting game version of FighterZ with rollback netcode, although that DBFZ patch has been delayed a few times already.
FighterZ is one of the best fighting games on PS4 as well as PS5. It’s a three-v-three fighter, here you play as the overpowered characters from the anime Dragon Ball. It’s a game that balances brawling moves with giant ki attacks, making for some of the best mechanics we’ve seen out of an Arc System Works game.
2. Mortal Kombat 1

The latest instalment in the Mortal Kombat franchise is a clear stand out for the best PlayStation fighting games. It’s one of our first truly next-gen experiences in a fighter, and it feels like it.
Mortal Kombat 1 has some of the best feeling controls and fighters on the platform, unique new features like Kameo Fighters which open up gameplay, and a wealth of content to explore. There’s room to really get in deep and try to become the best player going through online. On top of that, there’s actual solo content which can definitely keep players busy outside of online.
On a new-gen platform, the MK 1 Fatalities look fantastic on the PlayStation 5. It’s a game which is only really on next-gen hardware (outside of a broken port). It feels like it too. If you’ve been wanting a fighting game which actually feels at home in this gen, not just a slight upgrade, then Mortal Kombat 1 might be the pick for you. As a brand-new fighting game, it’s a great time to get involved in Mortal Kombat 1 too.
1. Street Fighter 6

Finishing up the best PS5 fighting game is Street Fighter 6. This is a game that takes full advantage of the new hardware for great visuals, insane response times, and one of the best feeling systems for combat we’ve ever seen in the series.
Street Fighter 6 is probably the best PS5 fighting game out there right now. it doesn’t have the biggest roster, but every character handles great. There are more modes to explore outside of just online, and it’s become one of the biggest fighting game esports out there. It’s an extremely polished experience. You can dig deep into character combos and online. Or just play around in the fun single-player sides to the game. This is a title which only seems to be ageing better. its initially impressive balance has proved one of the most fun long-term we’ve seen in a new fighter. This may end up being the definitive fighting game of this gen.
