The regular-season for the teams playing in Division B of the 2018 CWL Pro League ended last week. They have joined the ones who advanced from Division A earlier this month and gear up for the playoffs. In the opening stage of the competition, the games were played in a double round-robin format, in best-of-five series. Four teams have advanced from each division and they will compete in the playoffs starting on Friday, July 24.
The 2018 Call of Duty World League is like the name suggests a global professional offline competition. Activision, MLG and Sledgehammer Games organize the event which has a massive prize pool. The top eight teams will get a share of the added $500,000 at the end of the playoffs, which start on Friday. Between July 27 and July 29, they will play in a double elimination bracket in best-of-five matches. The schedule of the upcoming matches is yet to be announced.
Red Reserve EU won Division A with the best score of all participating teams, having amassed 11 victories and three defeats. They will be joined by Team Kaliber, Echo Fox and Faze Clan who were unable to move into double-digit territory. Division B was very competitive and three teams finished with 10 wins and four defeats. Optic Gaming, eUnited and UNILAD Esports have posted these numbers and they will be joined by Rise Nation. They were able to win just nine games, but that was enough to qualify.
Prize Structure and Maps
The organizers have announced the broadcast talent for the event that starts at the end of this week. It features some of the best-known streamers, from England and United States, as well as Spain, Italy, France and Germany. Matches will be broadcasted live, so those who don’t have tickets at the venue can enjoy the games online.
The teams that were eliminated during the group stage will receive $12,500 for participating in this event. The lion’s share will go to the ones who compete over the weekend, on the five official maps. 2018 CWL Pro League teams will lock horns in Hardpoint, Capture the Flag and Search and Destroy game modes. For each of them, a different set of maps was chosen, as follows. Ardennes Forest, Gibraltar, London Docks, Saint Marie Du Mont, Valkyrie are the Hardpoint maps. Capture the Flag will be played on Ardennes Forest, Flak Tower, London Docks while Search and Destroy: Ardennes Forest on London.
The winners of the tournament will collect 40,000 Pro points and $212,500. $132,500 will go to the runners-up who will also receive 35,000 points. Finishing on the third step of the podium will result in a paycheck of $92,500 plus 30,000 points, while the team in fourth will get $32,500. The Call of Duty teams who finish in the fifth, respectively sixth place will receive $32,500 each and 22,500 points. Last but not least, the next two teams will have to settle for $22,500 and 20,000 Pro Points.
