When is the Tekken 8 Release Date?

The Tekken 8 release date has been unveiled as part of the game’s early promotion at Gamescon. During the opening night of the event, we saw new info on Mortal Kombat 1, but Tekken creator Katsuhiro Harada and producer Michael Murray also popped up. They revealed the first 17 minutes of the story mode for Tekken 8! Along with revealing some new info on what’s coming, they’ve confirmed the Tekken 8 release date.

The game is currently scheduled to release on the 26th Janruary 2025. Early 2025 has long been the speculated window for the release of the game. Official statements prior to this had confirmed the 2025 financial year. However, with the game not seeming to be at the level of promotion for a release in the next few months, many had speculated this would mean the game was coming in the early period 2025 rather than rushing through to the end of this year.

The new Gamescon trailer has confirmed this. It’ll be January when we finally get to play Tekken 8 in full! This does space it out quite nicely from Mortal Kombat 1 and Street Fighter 6 too, great for those who follow more than one of the top fighting games.

What’s Coming in Tekken 8?

The Tekken 8 release date is going to be when we get the game in full, but what’s coming? There are the normal rosters of Tekken characters to fight in online and local matches. If you want to see what kind of action the game is focused on, this is the early reveal for you.

Just like Tekken 7 story, Tekken 8 also has a pretty big mode for players here. The core gameplay for a lot of players though is still going to be online. Hopefully, over the next few months, we’ll start to learn even more about the mechanics and different characters that are coming to the title on the Tekken 8 release date. Even after that, we’ll get even more characters with the DLC. There are tons of exciting upcoming fighting games coming up soon, and Tekken 8 might be the biggest coming up soon.

Tekken 8 is going to be releasing for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. Other versions of the game could come later like a Switch release, but given the power of other hardware and how demanding the game is, that’s pretty unlikely. At the initial Tekken 8 release date these platforms will likely be the only ones supported.

Tekken 8 Release Date PS5

The Tekken 8 PS5 release date will be day one! Whenever that is. It will likely come to the platform in early 2025. What about the release date for ps4 though? Unfortunately, the title is skipping a PS4 release. It’s only releasing on the newest wave of consoles, which could be a sign that players on older gens might have to start upgrading to keep up. There’s still Tekken 7 on that platform, one of the best PS4 fighting games.

Tekken 8 Release Date Steam

The Tekken 8 release date for PC will also be 2025. As far as we know, the game will release on all platforms at the same time!

Tekken 8 Release Date Xbox

Games coming to all platforms at different times isn’t that uncommon these days. Often, games aren’t fully exclusive but instead tied to a specific platform for the opening weeks. That doesn’t seem to be the case for Tekken, which will be on Xbox as well.

As we get closer to the Tekken 8 release date, we’ll learn more about what’s coming in the game. Tekken 8 gameplay has already been shown off in a dedicated trailer with some interesting developments.

Tekken 8 Story

The story mode for Tekken 8 has a lot more information out on it now. It’s going to focus on Kazuya Vs Jin, taking the story back to a more retro focus. We don’t know too much more about it right now, but the choice of characters so far seems like we’re getting less of a departure than we got with the Tekken 7 story at least. The Game Awards saw a Tekken 8 trailer focused on story that shed some light on it.

Tekken 8 Beta Release Date

The release date means most of the current spread of fighting game esports tournaments aren’t going to feature the game. It’ll likely be next year when we start to see that heat up.

Once we do move on to Tekken 8 though, we might be getting a boost to prizes. Devs behind the game have spoken about how the increased Street Fighter prize pool has affected things. They’ve said they’re committed to spreading the prizes out among a wider part of esports community so the game can support more players. However, while they won’t have a single huge prize on the level of Street Fighter, we can probably expect an increase from what Tekken 7 is currently at.
