Pokemon GO Raids in January 2025

Mega Medicham remains the Mega Raid for the first half of January, while the Therian Formes of the genie legendaries are the first 3 5-star raids of the year.

Tornadus-T will be replaced with Thundurus-T in 5-star raids, and Mega Steelix will be the new Mega Raid. The VGC Staple (link https://www.esports.net/news/pokemon/pokemon-showdown/) Landorus-T rounds out the trio of legendary genies in Pokemon GO raid battles. Mega Steelix mega raids begin Thursday 25th alongside Thundurus-T. Shadow Moltres will remain the active Shadow Raid until January 21st. It will then be replaced by Shadow Ho-oh after a week off.

Upcoming Pokemon GO Events

  • Mateo’s “Along the Routes” event has come and gone.
  • Raging Battles starts on January 19th, evolving Primeape into the new Annihilape by defeating 30 Ghost or Psychic-type pokemon.
  • Pokemon Go Taken Treasure runs from the 27th January to 1st February.

Pokemon Go Spotlight Hour Days in January

January has seen the end of the ice type themed Spotlight Hours, spreading its focus once again for January.

  • Ralts – 16th
  • Barboach – 23rd
  • Foongus – 30th

Pokemon Go Events Community Days

There are fewer Community days this month. Additional happenings come with these community days, such as Porygon photobombing AR Photos. During the 3 hour window of each day, players will see an increased encounter rate for these shinies.

Evolve Porygon2 during the event to get Porygon-Z that knows Tri Attack as its Charged move. This normal type move has 75 power during Gyms and Raids, and 65 power with a chance to lower a pokemon’s Attack and Defense in Trainer battles.

February 4th

  • Chansey
  • Shiny Happiny (2km Eggs)

At the end of the Community day event, taking on and winning a 4-star or higher raid battle will cause an increased rate of Chansey to spawn for 30 minutes near said gym.

Pokemon Go Battle League

  • Great, Ultra and Master Leagues run from the 19th – 26th January. Ultra League’s CP cutoff is 2500. Great League is 1500
  • Master League is running from 12th-19th January with no CP limit. Fantasy Cup maintains a 1500 CP cap, allowing only Dragon, Steel and Fairy-type Pokemon.
  • Great League 26th January – 2nd February 1500 CP limit. Hisui Cup only allows pokemon from Pokemon Legends: Arceus Pokedex.

All listed leagues grant 4x Stardust for competing.
