Is MultiVersus Coming Back? Title Spotted on Epic Games Store

All year, we’ve been getting hints and teases towards MultiVersus coming back. The crossover fighter from Warner Bros has been offline since mid-2023, after player numbers plummeted. The game is about to come back, this time completely remade.

We’ve got our big announcement for when the game is returning. This new version of the title will be re-made on a new engine, with major improvements. Everything from netcode to the game’s visuals has had massive changes. When are we going to see MultiVersus coming back though?

When is MultiVersus Coming Back?

In the latest update from Player First Games, we’ve got a new date for the return of the platform fighter. the game will be back online in May 2025! It seems we’re getting the same MultiVersus characters back but with major changes.

For one thing, the game has been rebuilt using a new Unreal Engine. Talking about the game’s changes, the update has talked about this impacting a lot of the game. It’ll help implement a better netcode as well as more responsive fighting.

We’ve already seen some hints of the changes. We’re getting new designs and updates for quite a few of the characters, shown off in the McDonalds promo seen earlier this year.

Another aspect highlighted by Player First Games was performance. It seems the jump up to Unreal 5 will help the game perform highly on every platform. The game is also getting a new PVE mode. We’ll have to wait until May when Multiversus comes back to see how the fighters themselves have been changed over the last year though.

MultiVersus Reappears on the Epic Games Store Ahead of Announcment

A few weeks ago, fans of MultiVersus had a pleasant surprise. They’ve seen that the game is available once again on one of the major platforms for PC. One Reddit user, u/yourKuuichi, has found the title on the Epic Games store.

Does this mean that MultiVersus is back online? Not quite. The game showed up for some players. However, it’s still showing the last used key art for the game. The new designs and renders we’ve seen in the McDonalds collab aren’t part of the art. When the game is clicked on, it doesn’t take you to the store either.

Instead, clicking on the new MultiVersus icon will lead to a 404 error. Clearly, the game isn’t the reveal of MultiVersus coming back. At least not yet just. What exactly does it mean though?

With this recent bug and the new art we saw earlier in the year, we’re beginning to see more of MultiVersus. The title is probably getting close to a return! The game might not be available yet, but it’s another sign that we’re getting close. Hopefully, this extra time in the oven is going to make the game even better once it comes back.
