How to Obtain Warglaives of Azzinoth

Obtaining the Warglaives of Azzinoth is not really difficult, but it requires some time and luck.

Those looking to add these weapons to their collection will have to visit the Black Temple in Shadowmoon Valley, Outland. There, within the ruined temple, players will need to slay Illidan Stormrage, who will have a small chance to drop one or both of his blades. The drop chance for this item is roughly 5%, so don’t expect to get these on your first try.

Once you have both blades, you are then ready to proceed to the next step in order to obtain the Warglaives of Azzinoth transmog appearance. But before we proceed, it’s important to know that only certain classes can equip these weapons, as they are classified as swords. Only Warriors, Death Knights, Rogues, Monks and Demon Hunters will be eligible to wield the Warglaives of Azzinoth.

Additionally, only the Demon Hunter class can obtain the Warglaives of Azzinoth transmog appearance. Blizzard decided to place this restriction as the warglaives have always been an iconic Demon Hunter weapon.

Tips for Farming Black Temple

If you’re looking to obtain the Warglaives of Azzinoth from the Black Temple in Outland, chances are you’ll be spending a lot of time there. In order to maximize your odds of receiving both weapons, you need to optimize your Black Temple farming.

Since Black Temple is not in a convenient location, it’s important to have a quick and easy travel route there. The first and biggest tip we have is to obtain the Fractured Necrolyte Skull toy, an item obtained from the Timewalking vendor in Shattrath for 750 timewarped badges. This toy can teleport its user directly in front of the Black Temple raid, and only has a 1-hour cooldown. So, before you even think of farming Black Temple on multiple characters, get this toy first!

Getting the Warglaives of Azzinoth Transmog

The first step to obtaining the Warglaives of Azzinoth transmog is having both warglaives on a single character. When a character obtains both warglaives, they receive a Feat of Strength achievement on that entire account.

Once a player obtains the achievement, they must then wait for the Burning Crusade timewalking event in order to participate in the timewalking Black Temple raid.

Just like back in Burning Crusade, a full 25-man raid needs to be formed and the entire raid must be cleared, including the last boss Illidan Stormrage. Once the whole ordeal is completed, the player will be granted an additional achievement called “I’ll Hold These For You Until You Get Out,” along with an item called “Arsenal: The Warglaives of Azzinoth.” Clicking this item will unlock the Warglaives of Azzinoth transmog appearance on the entire account.

Can Other Classes Transmog Warglaives of Azzinoth?

Sadly, this is not possible. Blizzard have remained firm on their decision to only allow Demon Hunters to transmog the Warglaives of Azzinoth, but this could change in a future patch. Luckily, there are plenty of other transmog weapons to choose from, including some legendary ones such as Thunderfury, the Blessed Blade of the Windseeker.

Shadowmourne is also another excellent legendary transmog appearance, obtained in the hearth of Northrend, in the Icecrown Citadel on 25-man Heroic version. It involves a lengthy quest and some grinding, but it’s a very rewarding experience.
