Fukunaga Wins Granblue Fantasy Versus Rising AWT 2025

This weekend saw the AWT 2025 Finals take place. A conclusion to Guilty Gear’s year. What about the other Arc System Works games though? There were actually two other titles represented here. Although, since both are relatively new releases, they didn’t quite have the same level of fanfare. We had a side tournament for Undernight In-Birth II [Sly:Celes]. However, the other major tournament was the Granblue Fantasy Versus Rising AWT 2025 event.

As Granblue Rising’s lifespan can be measured in months, not years, it hasn’t had time for a full circuit this year. It’s had a truncated version of one though. We’ve seen plenty of early events which have helped us see who the rising stars of this new top fighting game are. Most of these players are concentrated in the AWT 2025 Finals, with a $30,000 prize pool.

Ober a single bracket, we saw the winners of various Majors for the game so far go head-to-head. Who claimed victory at the first Granblue Fantasy Versus Rising AWT 2025?

Granblue Fantasy Versus Rising AWT 2025

It didn’t have long enough circuit to warrant a full groups round. We still got a backet for the Granblue Fantasy Versus Rising at Arc World Tour 2025. Th stand out player might since the first match had to be Fukunaga. He was up against Sonic San in the first round and cleanly went through 3-2. Then, he took out Tako and Kojicoco 3-1.

This cleared the way for Fukunaga to get to the final. For the Gran Final, we had a re-match of the winners final. After winning against Xerom in the Losers’ Finals, we had the same match-up again! A repeat final, not too uncommon in fighting game esports. In round two of Fukunaga vs Kojicoco though, things went even smoother. The Japanese player swept in the grand finale, winning 3-0.

This huge win in the Granblue Fantasy Versus Rising AWT 2025 is exciting. It’s positioned the player as the stand out for the very first round of Granblue Fantasy Versus Rising esports. While 2025 is looking like a much bigger year for the game, he’ll definitely be the player to watch at the major events after this initial win.
