Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 2 Brings Greek Myths to Game

We’ve just gotten one of the biggest Fortnite patch notes! Although, there’s a few hiccups. Trying to drop into Fortnite on launch day players found the servers off. Epic has run into some problems launching the new season. They’ve had to delay the launch by at least 8 hours. We might not know when it’ll be back up or how insane the queue to get online will be, but we do know about what’s changed with the latest Fortnite update!

Chapter 5 Season 2 is here! It isn’t playable yet, but we already know what to expect when we log in. These are all of the changes we can see once the game is online again.

New Locations for Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 2

The map has had a decent update for the new season. It’s one of the biggest spreads of new POIs we’ve seen. Players will find quite a few new Greek mythology-themed POIs logging in. These are the new spots.

  • Mount Olympus
  • Grim Gate
  • The Underworld
  • Brawler’s Battleground

These are our brand-new POIs. These are big sprawling spots taking over two corners of the map. They’re not the only changes though. A few of the other Fortnite POIs have changed around too.

This is a major alteration to the map. Pretty much all of the duller POIs from last season have gone, replaced with multiple new spots. Compared to the Fortnite updates we saw in Chapter 4’s map, this is a much more exciting way of doing things.

New Weapons and items

There are quite a few new weapons and even Chapter 5 Mythics available on the map right now! They’ve addressed the weaker parts of the loot pool. Namely, the ARs which are entirely replaced and SMGs. These are the new weapons we can find.

  • Thunderbolt of Zeus (Mythic)
  • Gatekeeper Shotgun (Loot pool and Mythic)
  • Harbinger SMG (Loot pool and Mythic)
  • Huntress DMR (Loot pool and Mythic)
  • Warforged Assault Rifle (Loot pool)
  • Wings of Icarus (mythic)
  • Chains of Hades (Coming in a later update)

Those are the new guns we’ve seen so far. Since the game has had extended time off, we haven’t had a hands-on yet. These look like exciting changes though. We’ve got more types of guns coming that can compete with C5’s OP weapons from last season.

Alongside these new weapons, there’s a handful of guns sticking around. Most of the non-novelty or specific mechanic-based guns have stayed. Although, a few things have been vaulted (like bananas). These are the returning weapons this season.

  • Hammer Pump Shotgun
  • Frenzy Auto Shotgun
  • Nemesis AR
  • Thunder Burst SMG
  • Reaper Sniper Rifle
  • Ranger Pistol

Mods in Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 2

Modding your weapon is the headline feature for Chapter 5. They’ve stuck around this season with a few changes to the exact details of how they work. They’re now located in special weapon bunkers which unlock mid-game. You can also collect a couple of new mods, like the Thermal Scope and Speedgrip item.

Those are the big changes for the current season. It seems a few other aspects are sticking around too. Though. Medallions still seem to be in the game, but with re-vamped effects. It looks like we’re due two more events during this season as well, so Fortnite leaks are going to be pretty full with new content over the next few weeks.
