Call of Duty League Resolves Major Professional Play Issue Before Major 3

Treyarch collected feedback from fans and pro players after Major 2 and made a much-needed map pool change to improve matches moving forward.

On February 4, at the start of Black Ops 6 Season 2, Treyarch added Bounty and Dealership to the Ranked Play map pool so players could test out their competitive viability. In addition, the devs added the PPSh-41 SMG and Cypher 091 Assault Rifle to see if players wanted them permanently.

Testing showed that the Cypher 091 AR massively outperformed the AMES-85, while the PPSh-41 performed far below expectations and failed to come close to overtaking the KSV or the Jackal PDW. Meanwhile, neither map left much of an impression.

As a result, no changes were made to the map or weapon pool before Major 2 Online Qualifiers started, and that ultimately proved to be a mistake.

CDL changes SnD map pool after Major 2 complaints

Call of Duty announced that Rewind and Dealership have replaced Vault and Skyline in Search and Destroy. This change immediately applies to Black Ops 6 Ranked Play and will go into effect in the CDL for Major 3 Online Qualifiers.

Vault was not fun to watch or great for pro players because the A-bomb site had all four players defend or attack one small room in most rounds. Meanwhile, competitive fans also grew tired of Skyline, as teams were usually planted at the same bomb site with little to no variation.

In saying that, fans are generally more excited that the maps were removed than for the new additions.

Former CDL pro Octane responded, “I’m more excited about removing the 2 than adding btw I couldn’t watch those maps anymore.”

Fans questioned why the league is adding Dealership even though players and pros have already voted against having it after the initial map test in Season 2.

“Dealership SnD is the biggest go f**k yourself that I’ve seen the CDL do cause, lord, that map as a whole isn’t competitive in the slightest,” Challenger player Gunless added.

We will better understand how the new maps play when Major 3 Online Qualifiers start on April 4.
