How to Play Fortnite Mobile on Android
Fortnite mobile is technically still available for download on Android! It isn’t available on the normal app store though. You’ll need to go through some extra steps. If you want to download Fortnite Android, this is how you can do it:
- Go to Fortnite’s website on an android
- Select Play Fortnite on Android
- Select Download Now
- Pick Download Anyway
- Open the file and install it. (You might need to allow installing from external sources if you haven’t already)
- Select Open
- Select Get next to Fortnite
- Install!
It’s pretty easy if you’re willing to jump through a couple of additional hoops. The kind of device you have matters too though. There are still some requirements for your specs to play the Fortnite app:
- 64-Bit with ARM64 processor
- Android OS 8.0 or higher
- Minimum 4GB RAM
- Adreno 530/Mali-G71 MP20/ Mali G72 MP12 or higher GPU.
Is Fortnite Updated on Android?
There’s some disappointing news on this front. Epic removed the app from Apple devices, and Google followed by removing it from their store. This is because of a disagreement over royalties over in-app purchases. This hasn’t stopped players from using Fortnite mobile, and Epic has been supporting it. In Fortnite, all seasons that get added will be available. It isn’t like the Apple version is stuck in Chapter 2 still!
Epic has been rolling out updates to the Android version of Fortnite on Android. That includes recent Chapter 4 updates. Although, it often goes longer without bug fixes than on other platforms.
Other Options to Play Fortnite Mobile on Android
Fortnite mobile has some other versions which could be more convenient than downloading the app from Epic’s website. Fortnite on Xbox Cloud Gaming allows you to play the console version of the game on an Android device by streaming it. This can be a fun way to get an upgraded version of Fortnite. There is also GeForce Now, another game streaming service. That option is more limited when playing for free than Xbox Cloud Gaming though.
These two other options are a great way to play, but you’re in a console lobby which could be difficult. It might not be the best way to climb up the ranking in Fortnite, but these methods do give you more options for playing Fortnite mobile.
