Capcom Alerts Players: Upcoming Monster Hunter Wilds Update Will Interrupt Online Sessions

An update for Monster Hunter Wilds will go live on all platforms tomorrow and end any active online sessions when it hits, publisher Capcom has said.

The patch, which will include several tweaks and a fix for the game’s current progress-blocking bug, is set to land on PC, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S tomorrow, 4th March, at 8am UK time. If you’re across the pond, that’s midnight Pacific time, or 3am Eastern.

It’s probably a good idea not to be playing together online then, if you’re planning on teaming up to be taking on any bosses.

This update will most notably include a fix for the story progress bug found in Chapter 5-2 “A World Turned Upside Down”.

As players discovered over the weekend, an issue can cause an NPC to not spawn where they should, essentially blocking all further campaign progress.

Capcom previously acknowledged the problem, and said it was working on a solution to the issue. Those still stuck with it should hopefully be sorted tomorrow.

Other issues set to be addressed in tomorrow’s patch includes issues with the Ingredient Center and Grill a Meal, Capcom said.

There’s no word on any improvement for the game’s technical performance as yet – that will likely take longer.

Monster Hunter Wilds launched last Friday to huge numbers on Steam, though has also been criticised by players for its PC optimisation.

In Eurogamer’s Monster Hunter Wilds review, our Matt wrote that the game was “the most exhilarating and refined Monster Hunter yet, even if its attempts to balance the old and new don’t always quite coalesce in its ongoing quest to please all audiences”.
